U S SAILING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Sears Cup

The Sears Cup has been competed for since 1921. It is the National Junior Sailing Championship for three (and sometimes four) sailor teams. Teams are selected by by local regional sailing associations (such as ECSA) to represent the RSA at the Area eliminations. The top two teams from the Area elminations are eligible to compete at the National Championship.

  • ECSA 2025 practice and elimination plans are beging determined. Final details will depend on interest from our sailors.

  • Area B Semi-Finals/Eliminations will be held on June 26 and 27 at The Waterfront Center in Oyster Bay, Long Island. These will be sailed in Sonars by four sailor teams.

  • Sear Cup Finals will be held August 7-10 at St. Francis Yacht Club, San Fancisco, California. The finals will be in J-22s sailied by four sailor teams.

Over the years ECSA has sent many teams that have been successful at the Area B semi-finals and continured on to the nationals. Two teams that went to the finals were national champtions:

1993 – Morgan Connor, Graeme Woodworth, Kyle Shattuck for Mystic River Mudhead Saiing Association

2011 – O.J. O’Connell, Ben Wilkinson, Kyle Seniff for Mystic River Mudhead Sailing Association

Click here and let us know you are interested! We will keep everyone that signs up informed. We hope to have practice sessions and if there is enough interest an ECSA sail-off to determine the most qualified sailors to represent ECSA at Area B semi-finals. See the details we have so far below.

ECSA will provide financial support to sailors going to the semi-finals and the finals.
